“At 19 weeks I was diagnosed with a short cervix, it got shorter to only 2.5cm compared to the previous month which was at 3.8cm. I was prescribed progesterone, and was told to go back to modified bed rest and get regular ultrasounds to monitor the length.
“A week later at my anomaly scan everything was going great. Baby A was perfect.
“When they checked my cervix, it was at 2.8cm. Suddenly, it shortened to 2.3cm during a contraction. Slight funneling was also seen,” simulang kwento ni Yasmine.
“I felt my heart sink to the floor and I just started crying and panicking. I was terrified and mad at myself. I wanted my body to work properly. I wanted my baby to be safe,” patuloy niya.
“They rushed me to the “High Risk Pregnancy Unit” to stop the contractions. They hooked me up with different machines and did a series of tests.
“They found out that I’m positive for Group B Streptococcus and they started giving me intravenous antibiotics,” pagbabahagi ni Yasmine.
“The next day our perinatologist checked my cervix again and it was at 2.8cm and it was closed. But because I have history of premature birth with Cristiano, and because of my contractions, my OBGYN decided that it was best to do the cervical cerclage (a treatment that involves temporarily sewing the cervix closed with stitches). They gave me the stitches the following day,” lahad ni Yasmine.
Sa ngayon ay recovering na siya pero under bed rest pa rin for the rest of her pregnancy days.
“It’s been a week since my operation. I’m still recovering. And I’m still scared of contractions because that’s the reason why my cervix got shorter and it was funneling and I got them since the start of my pregnancy.
“I will be on modified bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy and need regular ultrasounds. Yesterday I had my follow-up check-up and so far so good. My cervix is at 3.15cm and closed. Thank God!” aniya.
“It’s been so hard from the start. But the last week has been the hardest I’ve ever been through. I overthink everything. I worry. I often cry.
“But FIGHT lang para kay baby A.
“I find strength and comfort in the midst of trials thanks to my husband. In times of despair, he has always been my beacon of light. That protects me from my worst nightmares. And tells me that everything is going to be okay. He calms down my anxieties and helps me see the positive side of everything,” pahayag ni Yasmine.
“Thank you amore for being my constant support system,” ang mensahe niya sa mister.
“Thank you mama Mary for listening to our prayers.
“It’s her 4th pregnancy suffering with Hyperemesis Gravidarum all day with severe nausea and vomiting. She can’t even drink water nang hindi nagsusuka after. She lost several kgs in the first 3 weeks.
“This is her 2nd pregnancy with GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). And she experiences relentless anxiety and panic attacks (without any triggers),” ang pahayag ni Alfred sa kundisyon ng asawa.
