Bong Go: Vaccine the best weapon
TO give struggling sectors additional support and help them recover from the adverse effects of the pandemic, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s team conducted a two-day relief activity for displaced economic frontliners in Alaminos City, Pangasinan.
In his video message, Go also urged all eligible essential workers belonging to the A4 priority group to not waste the opportunity to get vaccinated.
“The vaccine is the best weapon we have in the fight against the coronavirus. Go began in a video message.
During the activity, Go’s team distributed meals, vitamins, masks and face shields to a total of 4,276 beneficiaries, composed of market vendors and Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association members, at the Alaminos City National High School and Don Leopoldo Sison Convention Center in the same city.
Selected beneficiaries were given new pairs of shoes or bicycles so they can work or commute with ease. Others were provided computer tablets for their children to use for their blended learning activities.
In line with his commitment to inclusive health care for all, Go offered his help to any indigent beneficiary in need of medical care. He advised patients to visit the Malasakit Center at the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City where they may avail further aid from the government.
The Malasakit Center brings together all concerned agencies which offer medical assistance programs, namely the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Senator Go again urged national and local government authorities to exert all efforts to expedite the vaccine rollout by bringing it down to communities and households especially for senior citizens who cannot leave their homes.
His appeal came as the country received more than two million additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday, June 10, and is expected to receive more than ten million doses this month.
The Senator expressed his optimism that the vaccination of essential workers, or those in the A4 priority group, will aid in the recovery of the economy.
Go also continues to remind local government units to intensify their local vaccination campaigns in order to encourage constituents especially top priority groups who remain hesitant to get inoculated.
