MAKATI City Mayor Abby Binay has declared the territorial dispute with Taguig City is not over.

Social media comments, however, urged her to accept the Supreme Court decision on the issue.

The high tribunal has already ruled that the disputed 729-hectare Fort Bonifacio Military Reservation where the Bonifacio Global City is located and some other barangays in Makati City are under the legal jurisdiction of Taguig City

In a viral video, Binay said the case is still ongoing, saying she is sorry for her constituents whom she considers as her “children.”

She is referring to the students of Makati whom she believed would be deprived of services that Makati provides in the event that they will be transferred to the jurisdiction of Taguig.

“Ang posisyon namin is tuloy ang laban. Naawa ako sa mga anak ko—yung mga students, mga anak ko yan. Iba yung level of investment, am not talking about financial, alam ko kasi na hindi kayang ibigay yung kalidad na naiibigay ng isang kagaya ng lungsod ng mga Makati sa mga estudyante” Binay said in an interview with the reporters during the CityNet Disaster Cluster seminar
Following Binay’s statement that the fight is not over yet, propaganda has spread in social media saying “Makatizens, hindi pa tapos ang laban. Kinausap na ni Mayora si Pres. BBM, [M]a’am Liza at si Chief Justice. Nangako silang tutulong para mabuksan ulit ang kaso. Tuloy ang laban! Magugulat na lang ang Taguig. Abangan nila…”

However, the reopening of the Makati-Taguig dispute has garnered reactions calling the parties involved to respect the final decision of the Supreme Court.
