As the PBA, the country’s first play-for-pay league, celebrates its 49th year, free tickets will be given to the first 100 fans who will watch Wednesday’s games between San Miguel Beer against Terrafirma and Magnolia against NorthPort in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The PBA announced that eligible for the promo include fans who will show up in a groupie with their PBA idol, a memorabilia bearing the signature of their favorite PBA players or with an FB post watching a game in a PBA jersey.

Riding on a four-game winning streak, the Beermen will square off with the Dyip at 4:30 p.m.

With their perfect record at stake, the Beermen are bracing for a dogfight against the Dyip side fresh from a morale-boosting 91-85 victory over Barangay Ginebra last Sunday.

Terrafirma coach Johnedel Czrdel is confident about his team’s chances against San Miguel.

“Malay natin, bilog ang bola. As long as tuloy lang ang pagtu-tulungan sa loob and we continue to play as a team, especially sa defense, and within the system, baka makasilat ulit,” said Cardel in an interview posted in the official PBA website.

San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent reminded his team not to get over-confident.

“That team (Terrafirma) is playing well, and their three losses were kind of tight,” said Gallent.

“So we cannot be overconfident with that team. We would just have to play hard and play our usual game and not be complacent,” he added.

In the 6:15 p.m. mainer, Northport Batang Pier gunsfor their fifth win when they take on struggling Magnolia Chicken Timplados.

The Batang Pier of coach Bonnie Tan are buoyed by their 112-96 win over the TNT Tropang Giga last Friday.

They also won over ConvergeFiberX (112-104), Phoenix Super LPG (124-120) and Meralco (90-85).

NorthPort, however, dropped a 100-107decision to NLEX in their conference debut.

The Hotshots of coach Chito Victolero, on the other hand, looking to regain their winning ways and snap their two-game slide.

A good news for Magnolia is the return of Calvin Abueva, who was suspended for one game.
