THE long arm of the law finally caught up with one of Bicol region’s most wanted criminals who has been in hiding for nearly 15 years before he was tracked down in his hiding place in Camarines Sur on Wednesday, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo said yesterday.

Estomo identified the arrested suspect as Reynaldo Melleza, a resident of Sitio Bukal in Barangay Kinatakutan, Tagkawayan, Quezon who is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for rape issued by Judge Cecilia Borja-Soler of the Libmanan, Camarines Sur Regional Trial Court Branch 29 on July 14, 2006.

Estomo said the suspect was arrested in Bgy. Poblacion, Zone 1 in Del Gallego, Camarines Sur by a tracker team from the PRO5 led by Captain Ermelo Dichoso shortly after noon Wednesday.

He said the suspect went into hiding in different parts of Bicol after he was accused of raping a young girl in their neighborhood.

The suspect is being held at the Del Gallego Municipal Police Station jail pending his presentation to court and issuance of a commitment order.
