THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of two foreign fugitives wanted by authorities in their countries for serious crimes.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the two aliens, a South Korean and a Chinese national, were arrested recently in separate operations conducted by the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) in Pampanga and Manila, Tansingco said in a statement.

“They are now detained and awaiting deportation at our warden facility in Taguig City. They have been included in our blacklist, thus they are now perpetually banned from re-entering the country for being undesirable aliens,” Tansingco said.

He added, “There will be no letup in the bureau’s campaign against wanted foreigners who are using the country as a refuge to evade prosecution and punishment for crimes they committed in their homelands.”

BI-FSU Acting Chief Rendel Ryan Sy identified the arrested South Korean as 53-year-old Lee Poong Keun, who was arrested on March 18 in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Angeles City.

Sy said Lee has a pending deportation order issued by the BI Board of Commissioners in 2016 after the bureau was informed of his presence in the country by the Korean government.

Lee is reportedly the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Incheon district court in Seoul, where he was charged with conspiracies of murder and extortion.

Likewise, it was learned that Lee is the subject of 12 other arrest warrants issued by the different courts in Korea where he is charged with various crimes.

Sy also bared that last March 22, FSU operatives arrested in Binondo, Manila, Chinese national Huang Xuyang, 47.

Huang is reported wanted by the public security bureau in Qinhuangdao City, China, for allegedly refusing to execute court judgments.
