HOUSE Deputy Speaker Bernadette Herrera has expressed elation over a recent nationwide survey showing that her group, BH Bagong Henerasyon was among the most preferred partylist groups in the upcoming May polls.

Based on the survey conducted by RP Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) from January 22 to 30, BH Bagong Henerasyon Party-list ranked 25th among the Top 40 partylist organizations in terms of voter preference.

BH Bagong Henerasyon Party-list garnered a voter preference rating of 1.68 percent, assuring it of at least one seat in the House of Representatives.

Herrera said the survey results are a validation of strong public support for BH Bagong Henerasyon Party-list and its proven track record.

“The results of this latest survey reflect the continuing support of the Filipino people for the advocacies of BH Bagong Henerasyon Party-list, including gender equality and protection of women and children’s rights, empowering the micro-small and medium enterprises, (MSMEs), consumer protection, efficient internet, and economic recovery,” Herrera said.

RPMD was the same polling company that named Herrera as the top performing partylist lawmaker in the National Capital Region based on its survey conducted in September 2021.

According to RPMD, Herrera ranked first among the five best performing partylist representatives with her job approval rating of 71 percent.

Herrera, who is currently serving her second consecutive term as partylist lawmaker, earlier said she believes she still has much work left to do in Congress.

“We have done a lot, but there’s much more we can do for our kababayans, especially in this time of the pandemic,” Herrera said.

Herrera, who has earned the moniker “Aksyonera” for getting things done fast, said BH Bagong Henerasyon Party-list will remain the voice of women and children, as well as MSMEs in Congress.

“We will also continue to champion consumer protection, efficient internet, and economic recovery,” Herrera said.

Prior to becoming Deputy Speaker, Herrera served as chair of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality and vice chair of the Committee on Welfare of Children in the current 18th Congress.

In her many years in Congress, Herrera authored several laws that significantly affect women, one of which is the 105-Day Expanded Maternity Leave Act.

She also vigorously pushed for the bill banning child marriage in the country, which was recently signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte.

To help the country navigate through the challenges of COVID-19, Herrera co-authored the Bayanihan laws that granted the President additional authority to combat COVID-19 and provided for pandemic response and recovery interventions.

She also fought for a stimulus package for MSMEs, which are among the hardest hit by COVID-19 due to the community quarantine restrictions.

The Deputy Speaker was also active in committee hearings and investigations imbued with public interest.
