BBM’s timely call
PRESIDENT Marcos has called on the people to strengthen their courage, unity and cooperation.
Various quarters, including the ordinary citizens across the country, described Marcos’ call as “timely,” noting the rising tension in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
Reports said the tension in the WPS is heightened by China’s continued aggressiveness, drawing jeers from irate Filipino fishermen, mostly from Zanbales and Pangasinan.
For centuries, Filipinos have been fishing in the West Philippine Sea, which is also believed to be rich in mineral resources.
The public applauded him when Marcos boomed during last Wednesday’s Philippine Independence Day rites at Rizal Park that the people are ready to defend our territory.
With his popularity still high in the winds, the people are expected to heed the call of the highly-popular Chief Executive from Ilocos Norte.\
“As those who inherited the freedom that we enjoy today, it is our duty to protect it and ensure that we will never succumb to threats, invasion and oppression,” he said.
And we share the President’s view that freedom is nurtured, protected and fought for. Once we tend to neglect it, he warned that “it may be taken away from us all over again.”
President Marcos must succeed in uniting the Filipino people.
It’s a gigantic but not an impossible mission, according to President Marcos’ galaxy of avid supporters and followers.
