‘Bato’ calls for halt to political skirmish

SENATOR Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said the focus should not be on politics but on giving assistance to his fellow kababayans in Davao that are affected by heavy flooding in the region.

In his social media post, the Senator Bato said the political fight on the controversial issue surrounding the Peoples’ Initiative move to amend the Constitution, even the ICC and the controversies between the Marcoses and Dutertes, should be set aside as he insisted the need to help and respond to the immediate needs of the Davaoenos.

“To all my friend in the media. Pls. stop asking me about People’s Initiative, ICC and the Marcos & Duterte issue. Ceasefire na tayo. I want to focus myenergy on helping my people in Davao region survive and recover from floods and landslide. God bless.” Bato stated in his social post.

The former PNP Chief turned senator attended a Senate inquiry held in Davao City which was focused on PI alleged bribery issue chaired by Sen. Imee Marcos who head the Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Reforms.

Dela Rosa said that his reason for ceasefire is due to the fact that many people in Davao is suffering much due to the heavy flood and he felt that politics should be set aside as he urged his fellow politicians to prioritize first the welfare of his kababayan in Davao.

On Saturday, dela Rosa opted to start doing his relief operations for flood victims and assisted personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development sent there by the National Government in the distribution of food packs, water, some basic necessities to flood victims in various villages in the city of Davao like Waan and Jade Valley.
