Anti-drugs campaign

THE Filipino people now get this feeling that the administration of President Marcos will succeed in addressing the illegal drug menace in impoverished Phiiippines.

Although the problem still worries the authorities and the public, the government’s “bloodness” drug war is seen to rid the country of habit-forming substances.

Certainly, we share the view of two members of the House of Representatives that the government’s ongoing bloodless drug war “is a resounding success.”

The two are Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chair of the House committee on dangerous drugs, and Deputy Speaker and Quezon Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez.

Barbers said the parameters to measure the success of the campaign “ay yung taking away the illegal or illicit drugs from the streets.”

And this is what our law enforcement authorities are doing to ensure the success of President Marcos’ bloodless war against the drug monster.

Since President Marcos assumed the top political post of the land in 2022, the government has seized some P44 billion worth of drugs.

Barbers said “it was really never a policy of this administration to exterminate yet…we have produced quite a large achievement as far as taking out drugs from the streets.”

And in the view of many, there’s now that urgent need to establish more drug rehabilitation centers across the country.

Instead of exterminating drug addicts, let’s rehabilitate these wayward Filipinos to become productive citizens of the community anew.
