Another Maguindanao massacre suspect falls
ANOTHER policeman accused in the 2009 Maguindanao Massacre was arrested by security troops led by agents from the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Datu Piang last Thursday, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Eliseo DC Cruz reported yesterday.
Ex-Police Officer 1 Ebad Musa alias Musa Kawilan Ibad was tracked down in his hiding place in Barangay Liong, Datu Piang by members of the CIDG Bangsamoro Autonomous Regional Field Unit, Philippine Army, and local police around 4 p.m. Thursday, the official said.
Maj. Gen. Cruz said the suspect is one of the subjects of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for multiple murder issued by Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 on July 21, 2010.
A P250,000 reward has been offered by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the capture of the suspect who has been included in the National Level Most Wanted Person list.
Musa has been in hiding since being implicated in the November 23, 2009 incident which left 58 people dead in what has been considered as the most volent election-related incident in Philippine history.
Maj. Gen. Cruz said that last April 20, his men also captured Datu Harris Ampatuan Macapendeng, another suspect in the multiple murder case during a manhunt operation in Cotabato City.
“The CIDG has proven again that justice never sleeps and will always haunt offenders wherever they may be. This accomplishment is an assurance to the victims and families of this horrific incident that whatever the circumstances are, the long arm of the law will reach the suspects and put them behind bars,” the PNP-CIDG director said.
