CREAMLINE shoots for its fourth straight victory against another winless rival, while surging Akari seeks to extend its winning run to three as it plays struggling Cignal today in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Coming off a pair of straight-set romps over the HD Spikers and Gerflor, the Cool Smashers look to regain the solo lead as they face Farm Fresh at 4 p.m.

Tied with PetroGazz for the league’s best record at 3-0, Creamline continues to get better and stronger despite the loss of two key anchors of its dynastic rule in Jia de Guzman and Ced Domingo.

“The opportunity to play is very important. Yung mga bench players namin, talagang pang-first six din,” said Cool Smashers coach Sherwin Meneses in underscoring the team’s depth. “We are now looking at what is best for the team.”

“It’s a good problem for us coaches, but we still have to play consistent to be able to dish out good games,” he added.

Still searching for their first-ever PVL win, the Foxies are need to unleash their A-game if they want to pull off a reversal against the most sucessful team in the league.

The conference break overhaul has starting to work wonders for the Chargers, who are hoping to stay within reach of the Cool Smashers and the Angels.

Akari, however, must be wary of Cignal’s capability to bounce back from tough losses as the two clubs mix it up in the 6 p.m. match.

Chery Tiggo seeks to rediscover its winning ways, as the Cool Smashers play the Defenders in the 2 p.m. opener.

With the upgrades in the middle with Fifi Sharma and in the libero department with Justine Jazareno, both members of UAAP champion La Salle, the Chargers are determined to shed their also-ran tag after enduring three conferences filled with frustrations and disappointments.

“We had a plan from the very first season. You have to develop some players, bring in other talented individuals, and continue to develop them. You can see the guys coming in still have a lot of room to grow,” said Akari’s Brazilian coach Jorge Souza De Brito.

“Even if I tell you that we aim to stay in the Top Four, we have to fight every single day for that; we work for it. We’re on our way,” he added.

“I’m confident in these guys, and I know it’s only the beginning. It’s a fresh start for us.”
