AWARD-winning actress and public servant Aiko Melendez takes time off from her showbiz and political work and recently ventured anew in the restaurant business.

She recently opened the second branch of the upscale Geluk Gentri Restaurant, marking another milestone for the growing European restaurant in Quezon City

The newly opened location along Panay Avenue comes after the success of its first branch along Banawe Street, solidifying Geluk Gentri’s presence in Quezon City’s thriving culinary scene.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte graced the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Mayor Belmonte emphasized how the continuous expansion of businesses in the city serves as a testament to Quezon City’s reputation as the “Most Business-Friendly City.”

She credited the local government’s transparent leadership in creating an environment that encourages investment and growth, constantly attracting investors, businessmen and entrepreneurs.

“In Quezon City, we make sure that the growth and environment for business are transparent and conducive,” said Mayor Belmonte. “We are proud to welcome the expansion of Geluk Gentri Restaurant to the booming Quezon City business scene and progressive economy, as well.”

Key figures in business, showbiz and politics attended the event. Among the notable guests were CEO and head chef Paxon Alcanzare, Majority Floor Leader Councilor Doray Delarmente, Councilors Wency Lagumbay, Ivy Lagman, Atty. Vincent Belmonte, Action Officer Atty. Zandy Zacate, P/B Beverly Gaw, District 6 Representative Inno Dy of Isabela and veteran showbiz manager Ogie Diaz with Mama Loi Villarama.

This is not Aiko’s first time venturing into a restaurant business. The actress-turned-politician shared insights about her business journey. When asked about her edge in entering the restaurant industry after years in showbiz and politics, she revealed that she is not new into the business.

“Actually, we used to have a restaurant in Makati and it lasted for about seven years,” said Aiko. “Now, we want to bring it to Quezon City. We waited and I feel now is the right time and with good people around, it’s the same team.

“So ang edge namin would be having a business among friends. And this was built with love. ‘Yun ang mahalaga kasi at least we are all friends.”

Despite concerns that celebrities venturing into business may take opportunities away from other hardworking entrepreneurs, Aiko believes that dedication and effort remain the key to success.

“We’re all hardworking also. And I’d like to think that whatever we’ve invested here, the money, the time, the effort are all part of our hard work also.”

Aiko further explained that while their popularity helps in promoting the business, success ultimately depends on perseverance.

“Ang edge lang namin would be we’re like a family at ‘yung puhunan namin ay ‘yung popularity namin to promote the business,” Aiko said. “But I think the main thing in all businesses is you work hard for everything you have.”

Geluk Gentri Restaurant is a must-try dining experience in Quezon City. Now expanding its reach, the restaurant now caters to Quezon City residents and food lovers alike are invited to experience authentic European cuisine in an elegant yet affordable setting.

The new fine-dining destination aims to provide an exceptional culinary experience that blends exquisite flavors with a warm and welcoming ambiance.

As Quezon City continues to attract new businesses and investors, the opening of Geluk Gentri’s second branch further proves that the city remains a prime destination for business growth and gastronomic excellence. The first one opened in Banawe, while the second branch of Geluk Gentri is along Panay Avenue in Quezon City.

The servings of Geluk Gentri Restaurant are hefty and reasonably-priced. So get ready to indulge in a memorable dining experience and head Geluk Gentri is truly a must-try European dining in Quezon City. Aiko cannot be any prouder with her new business venture as a restaurateur. She negates the notion that business can hinder other jobs and activities.

“Being a celebrity has its advantages,” said Aiko. “Mas may hatak pa nga dahil kilala ka na ng tao. At the end of the day, effort and hard work pa rin ang puhunan.

“We’re all hardworking also. I’d like to think that whatever we invested here in our new restaurant, the money, the time, the effort are all part of our hard work.”

If there’s an edge with Aiko and her business partners, it’s the family-like bonding and long-time friendship.

While her popularity is her edge in promoting her restaurant business, Aiko believes she also needs to work hard to make her venture successful.
