CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — In observance of the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) today (April 9), the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) joins the nation in paying tribute to the courage, patriotism, and ultimate sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers who valiantly defended Bataan and Corregidor during World War II.

This year’s highlight of commemoration will take place at the historic Dambana ng Kagitingan in Mt. Samat, Pilar, Bataan to be led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., along with national and local officials, surviving war veterans, and their families.

To ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the event, PRO3 will deploy police personnel in the area.

Troops will be strategically stationed in and around Mt. Samat to secure VIPs, manage crowds, direct traffic, and respond to any emergencies.

The deployment will be done in close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), local government units, and other concerned agencies.

“Araw ng Kagitingan is more than a commemoration — it is a powerful reminder of the enduring bravery and patriotism of our heroes,” said PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo.

“Their selfless sacrifice continues to inspire the men and women in uniform to this day. PRO3 remains committed not only to honoring their legacy but also to upholding the very ideals they fought for,” she added.

Fajardo assured the public that the region remains secure, as all police units across Central Luzon are on full alert status for the duration of the national holiday.

As the nation pauses to remember our heroes, the PRO3 encourages every Filipino to reflect on the meaning of true heroism — a legacy of courage, unity, and patriotism that continues to shape the nation’s identity.
