PNP-CIDG haul in March: 1,37 violators, nearly P898-M crime evidence

A TOTAL of 1,371 lawbreakers were arrested while nearly P898 million worth of crime evidence, including 96 loose firearms, were seized by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group last March, the head of the PNP’s premier investigating agency.

Major General Nicolas D. Torre III said they made the arrests and seizures amid their stepped-up crackdown on all criminal and illegal activities and their aggressive manhunt operations nationwide as ordered by PNP chief General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil.

The official said that last month saw his men conducting a total of 1,060 law enforcement operations, which led to the arrest of 1,371 wanted persons and criminals; the confiscation of 96 loose firearms, 4 explosives, assorted magazines, 3,391 rounds of assorted ammunition; and P897,599,491.48 worth of evidence.

Maj. Gen. Torre said that as a result of their intensified implementation of the CIDG Oplan: Pagtugis last month, they finally arrested seven Most Wanted Persons with bounty money on their heads offered by the government, 131 Regional MWPs, and 79 Provincial MWPs.

In honoring all women and their children in relation to the National Women’s Month, 231 suspects were also arrested last month by the PNP-CIDG for abusing women and children.

The official said that the 231 law offenders are now facing criminal charges for rape, sexual abuse, incest rape, parricide, acts of lasciviousness, trafficking in person, sexual harassment, concubinage, child abuse, violence against women and children, online sexual exploitation, and cyber-related offenses.

Last month also saw the PNP-CIDG confiscating 96 illegal guns composed of 11 light weapons and 85 small arms, 4 hand grenades and assorted magazines and hundreds of live ammunition amid their stepped-up conduct of Oplan: Paglalansag Omega aimed at accounting for loose firearms and private armed groups all over the country.

Major Gen. Torre said that last March, they also arrested 27 foreign nationals for involvement in environmental crimes, illegal practice of medicine, trafficking in persons, violation of the Subscriber Identity Module or SIM Registration Act, cybercrime and illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator or POGO and Internet Gaming Licensees or IGL operations.
