NATIONAL University has pulled out from the V-League Collegiate Conference as the reigning UAAP women’s volleyball champions will participate in two international training camps in Taiwan and the VTV Cup in Ninh Bình, Vietnam.

The league announced yesterday the Lady Bulldogs’ withdrawal, leaving the women’s field with seven teams.

As a result, NU’s four-set win over Letran on Wednesday will not be counted in the standings.

Action resumes today at the Paco Arena, as traditional UAAP rivals Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas square off at 12 noon.

Led by Angge Poyos, Reg Jurado and setter Cassie Carballo, the Tigresses targeting their third consecutive win, while the Lady Tamaraws, spearheaded by Congo’s Faida Bakanke, Gerzel Petallo and playmaker Tin Ubaldo, seek to halt their foes’ streak.

“Kung ano yung mga kulang namin, yun ang pagtutuunan namin. Kung saan kami medyo mahina pa, pagtutuunan namin ng pansin. At yung consistency ng transition namin, iyon naman ang importante,” said UST coach Kungfu Reyes.

Kicking off the day’s action at 10 a.m., defending V-League champion College of Sain Benilde targets its first win of the season against University of the Philippines.

With Niña Ytang, Irah Jaboneta and Kassie Doering leading the charge, the Fighting Maroons are expected to put up a tough fight against the Lady Blazers still reeling with the departure of several key players from the team’s NCAA dynastic rule.
