Immaculada, DLSU-Dasmariñas share limelight in NCRAA volleyball
CAVITE — The Immaculada Concepcion College Lady Blue Hawks and De La Salle University-Dasmariñas Patriots crowned themselves as the champions of the 30th season of the NCRAA women’s and men’s volleyball tournament held at the DLSU-Dasmariñas here Friday.
The Lady Blue Hawks pulled off a dramatic reverse sweep against DLSU-Dasma Lady Patriots, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-15, to capture the crown in the women’s division.
Jennifer Bacud of ICC was named as the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Best Libero.
The Mythical Six includes Andrea Caparal (Best Open Spiker), Cara Leunice Tamon (Best Setter), Christine Joy Apan (Best Middle Blocker), and Gelah Marie Lopez (Best Opposite Spiker), all from ICC, and Leira Patrice Aure (Best Digger) and Frances Sean Lyonna Quintana (Best Server) of La Salle-Dasma.
In the men’s division, the Patriots swept the Blue Hawks, 25-21, 25-23, 26-24, to capture the title.
Paul Bryan Malaiba was named the Finals MVP.
The Mythical Six in the men;s division are Bryle Jayvee Tabuclao (Best Libero), Valeriano Sasis II (Best Middle Blocker), John Robert Phillip Alabin (Best Outside Hitter), Marlouie Gajudo (Best Server), Mark Rainier Clima (Best Setter) of ICC, Andrei Gonzales of AIMS (Best Opposite Spiker) and Prince Abbiel Kainet Divino of PMMS (Best Digger).
Meanwhile, the Philippine Merchant Marine School defeated the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies, 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, in the battle for third place in the men’s division.
In the women’s division, AIMS defeated PMMS in five exciting sets, 25-18, 25-18, 16-25, 20-25, 15-13, to secure third place.
NCRAA general manager Buddy Encarnado, NCRAA Vice President Hazel Mea of Lyceum of the Philippine University-Laguna, Jennifer Cabos OCCCI Pasay Branch Manager, Juan Nolasco III PMMS president/CEO, and Marco Agana of ICC attended the trophies and prices to the top finishers.
NCRAA auditor Benjamin Hernandez of PATTS, and NCRAA board members, Gerry Sergio of DLSU-Dasma, Joseph Ortega of PMMS, Anthony Villadelgado of EAC-Cavite, Edwin Punio of Bestlink College of the Philippines, Ted Cada of AIMS and NCRAA Head of Operation Richard Rosales also attended the final day of the competition.
