6 suspects eyed in killing of 2 Chinese execs
AT least six “persons of interest,” some of them foreigners are being eyed as behind the kidnapping and killing of a Chinese national and a Chinese-American whose bodies were found in Camarines Sur last month, Philippine National Police spokesperson Col. Jean S. Fajardo said yesterday.
The official said the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group is also coordinating with its foreign counterparts in its ongoing investigation into the case of medical executives Xia Kefu and Jimmy Jing Sun whose bodies were recovered in Bgy. Sangay in Tigaon, Camarines Sur last June 24
She said that the suspects include some people who fetched the two victims shortly after they arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last June 20, a couple of days before their bodies were found.
A PNP-AKG investigation showed that the two managed to call up their families abroad after they arrived in Manila. However, the following day, they later told their relatives they have been kidnapped and need a six million Yuan or roughly P40.2 million in ransom.
The money was reportedly sent by their relatives via bank transfer.
The two who were described as medical executives reportedly became the victims of a “well-planned trap” hatched by the suspects, some of them believed to be Chinese nationals too who invited the duo for a business venture.
Last June 28, relatives of the victims who arrived in the country were escorted by officers from the PNP-AKG Luzon Field Unit led by Lt. Col. Rossel I. Cejas in going to Bicol.
They were later met by members of the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office 5 before going to Tigaon municipality, where the two victims’ relatives positively identified the remains which were stored in a local funeral parlor.
The PNP-AKG and Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office members led by Col. Julius Caesar Domingo later brought the victims’ remains in a crematorium in Naga City, where the two’s remains were cremated upon the consent of their families.
The PNP-AKG headed by Brig. Gen. Cosme A. Abrenica and the PRO5 led by Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon are jointly investigating the double murder case and are collating more evidence and witnesses that would lead to the filing of criminal charges against the suspects.
