
Women achievers at TOPS
IT’S a woman’s world once more in the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) with three female achievers taking centerstage in the 115th “Usapang Sports on Air” on Thursday, Aug. 19.
With weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz winning the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 97 years, veteran sport leader Tisha Abundo, Talk N Text Tropang Giga female assistant coach Mau Belen and well-known Muay Thai fighter-coach Coline Brion will talk about women in sports during the 10 a.m. public service program.
Abundo, who was awarded as “Most Outstanding Female Volleyball Player” by President Marcos in 1969, will share her experiences both as an athlete and female sports leader.
Belen will talk about her role as the first-ever female coach in the PBA, while Biron will discuss her gold-medal performance in the 2021 Women Martial Arts Sports Festival held last July 8-31
TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members and friends in the sports community to join the weekly sports forum sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
The session will start at 10 a.m.
TOPS is composed of editors, columnists, reporters and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids and friends from different social media groups.
This is the 115th episode of the TOPS “Usapang Sports” since its formal launch at the National Press Club in 2018 and its 57th edition since going online due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Veteran sportscaster Ernest Leo Hernandez is the moderator.
