A laudable project
IT is certainly be useful for the government to develop more tourist spots not only in the metropolis but also throughout the country.
Note that the dollar-oriented tourist industry, like the successful overseas employment program, is a major pillar of the domestic economy.
Aware of this, the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development has decided to expand the Pasig River rehabilitation project.
This after the DHSUD noted the rising number of people visiting the newly-opened 500-meter showcase area at the back of the Manila Central Post Office.
The development of the showcase area is part of the Pasig Bigyan Buhay Muli (PBBM), one of the pet projects of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the expansion calls for the extension of the showcase area to the historic Walled City of Intramuros.
Aside from boosting tourism, the PBBM Project also aims to promote transportation interconnectivity since Pasig River traverses several major cities.
It also envisions transforming the ancient 25-kilometer long waterway into a people-centered and community-driven park.
Beautifying the banks of Pasig River, which stretches from sun-kissed Manila Bay to Laguna de Bay in Laguna River, is long overdue.
Thus. let’s all support the PBBM Project.
