SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Tuesday lauded the 20 awardees of the first-ever Marikina Youth Leadership Award (MYLA) for their academic excellence and extraordinary leadership qualities as he extolled young leaders who strive and work for the betterment of their respective communities.

The MYLA is a “visionary initiative” by the Office of Rep. Stella Luz A. Quimbo that underscores the significance of recognizing the youth’s dedication to leadership and academic prowess.

They were chosen from Marikina’s public elementary and secondary schools, in collaboration with school administrations and parent-teacher associations.

“I commend Teacher Stella’s foresight in spotlighting these dual achievers, for they are truly the city’s pride.

These individuals embody the principles of MYLA: valuing others, extending help to those in need, and playing a pivotal role in community building,” said Speaker Romualdez during the launch of the event at the North Lounge of the House of Representatives.

“They are not just leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today,” the leader of the 311-member House of Representatives added.

Speaker Romualdez was the inspirational speaker during the ceremony that was also attended by Rep. Quimbo, her husband former congressman Miro Quimbo, teachers from Marikina school and families of the awardees.

“To the awardees: Your recognition today is a testament to your hard work, commitment and the values you hold dear.

Beyond the certificate and the gift you will receive, may you carry the essence of this award with you – that in every action, in every decision, you have the power to create a ripple of positive change in your community,” Speaker Romualdez said.

After the ceremony, the awardees were given a short tour of the House of Representatives led by Quimbo.
