LAUR, Nueva Ecija – Five members of a peasant’s group associated with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) withdrew their support to the rebel group and pledged their allegiance to the government.

Nueva Ecija First Provincial Mobile Force Company commander Lt. Col. Paterno L. Domondon Jr. said the five former rebel sympathizers were misled into supporting the rebel’s activities and later realized that it was against the best interest of the community.

The five surrenderees were identified as alias “Ka Nesto,” 67, “Ka Mel,” 52, “Ka Roger,” 52, “Ka Boy,” 67, and “Ka Johny,” 74, all of Bgy. San Isidro, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija.

They are former members of the Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa (Almana) recruited back in 2015 under the Alyansa ng mga Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luson (AMGL), an underground mass organization with alleged links to the CPP-NPA.

Nueva Ecija police provincial director Col. Ferdinand D. Germino said government forces led by the First-PMFC facilitated the special intelligence operation that resulted in the withdrawal of support in Bgy. San Isidro at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday.

To support their reintegration, the five returnees received food packs to highlight the government’s commitment to extend aid to former militants as they return to lawful and peaceful living.

“This proves that terrorism brought about by the CPP-NPA-NDF has no place to go. In line with the directives of Brig. General Redrico A. Maranan, our Central Luzon police director, we will continue to take firm steps to ensure peace and security in our communities,” said Germino.
