‘Akyat-bahay’ gang member killed in encounter
A MEMBER of the “Akyat-bahay gang” yesterday was killed while another was arrested by responding lawmen following an encounter in Cabanatuan City.
In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, the Nueva Ecija police identified the fatality as Bryan Paez alias “Bukol,” an alleged “Akyat-bahay” member residing in Bgy. MS Garcia, Cabanatuan City.
Paez’ cohort , Marjon Tojino, 39, of Bgy. MS Garcia, Cabanatuan City, was arrested.
Prior to the clash, police were informed of an ongoing house robbery in Bgy. Sumacab Este, Cabanatuan City.
The police mobile patrollers were immediately dispatched and caught the two suspects in the act of stealing properties inside the house.
The suspects tried to elude arrest by climbing the roof top at the back of the house while firing shots at responding officers who were prompted to retaliate, resulting in the death of Paez.
A homemade revolver was seized from Tojino.
