5 held for illegal possession of PLDT cable wires in Ecija

SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija — Five personalities were nabbed after they were caught in the act of illegally installing and possessing fiber optic cable wires owned by the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company here on Friday.

Provincial police director Col. Jaime O. Santos said the five suspects were arrested by PLDT security guards Randy Marcelo and Isagani Molina, who were deployed along the Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Nieves doing roving works at 10:45 a.m.

Nabbed were Alvin Lance Reyes, 19, Vince Adan Angeles, 19, Ace Mark De Leon, 22, all of Bgy. Sto. Cristo; Kenneth Avillaros, 23, of Bgy. Malimba; and Angelo Tejedar, 25, of Bgy. Parcutela, all of Gapan City.

Seized from them was a roll of undocumented fiber optic wires owned by the PLDT.

Santos said the five suspects were all placed under police custody and are facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 401, penalizing the unauthorized installation of water, electrical or telephone connections, the use of tampered water or electrical meters, and other acts.
