THE Bureau of Immigration (BI), in coordination with law enforcement agencies, apprehended 42 Chinese nationals suspected of working illegally in a remote facility in Alabat Cove, Bgy. Villa Norte, Quezon province.

The operation, carried out around 5:44 a.m. on Wednesday, was based on a mission order issued by BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado after receiving intelligence information from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on the presence of the aliens.

The site, which appeared to serve as both an office and living quarters, was swiftly secured by joint forces from the BI Regional Intelligence Group Unit 4, PAOCC, PNP Regional Intelligence Division 4A, Regional Special Operations Unit 4A, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 4A, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4A, Tactical Support Command SWAT, and the Alabat Municipal Police Station.

Authorities reported that the foreign nationals failed to show valid passports or immigration documents. During initial questioning, the foreigners admitted to be working on a construction project in the area.

The activities, however, were found to be in violation of immigration laws, specifically for being undocumented and working without permits.

“Operating in the shadows is not an option in this country. These individuals had no legal right to work or even remain in the Philippines. Our message is clear: immigration laws must be followed, or consequences will follow,” said Viado.

The group faces deportation proceedings for violation of Philippine immigration laws.

Viado also issued a strong warning to foreign nationals and local entities enabling illegal employment.

“We welcome foreign visitors, but anyone who abuses our immigration system—whether foreigner or employer—will face swift and decisive action,” he said.

The operation highlights the Marcos administration’s continuing efforts to secure the country’s borders and crackdown on foreign nationals engaging in unlawful activities.

The BI confirmed that more joint operations are underway across the country.
