4 laborers nabbed for stolen water meters worth P64K

PALAYAN CITY – Four construction workers at a government housing project in this city were nabbed for allegedly stealing eight boxes containing 80 pieces of brand-new water meters worth P64,000 here on Friday.

City Police Head Lt. Col. Renato Morales said the four suspects were caught by security guards of the National Housing Authority (NHA) subdivision project in Bgy. Atate at 2:00 a.m., while riding a black Kawasaki Bajaj tricycle with the stolen items loaded inside the vehicle.

Those collared were identified as Marlon Baniaga, 29, foreman and construction workers Ronron Baniaga, 21, Jinggoy Huera, 30, and Romy Maitim, 32, all of Bgy. San Juan, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija.

Morales said the suspects were turned over to them by the subdivision guards for proper disposition.

A case for qualified theft has been filed against the four suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office here. By Steve A. Gosuico
