
3 killed in Caloocan shooting rampage
A 46-YEAR-old man said to be suffering from depression went on a shooting rampage in a neighborhood killing three of his neighbors and injuring four others Wednesday night in Caloocan City.
The suspect identified as William Jaymee Roque Sy, of No. 296 General Luna Street in Barangay 10, Caloocan City, was arrested and charged with multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder, the report from the National Capital Region Police Office headed by Major General Jonnel C. Estomo said.
Caloocan police chief P/Col. Ruben Lacuesta said Lourma Orbe, 72, widow, her daughter-in-law Angelica Orbe, 39, both residents of No. 299 Gen. Luna St. in Bgy. 10 died on the spot from bullet wounds in the body while Mary Jane Abary, 48, of No. 297 Gen. Luna Street died while being treated at the Caloocan City Medical Center (CCMC). Angelica’s husband Christian, 38, is still under observation.
The other victims identified as Abegail Panisares, 20, a student; and her relative Analine,45, both residents of No. 34 Asuncion St. in Morning Breeze, Bgy. 82; Christian Orbe, 38, a relative of the two slain Orbes; and Christopher Ryan Calinog,39, a security officer from Lakas ng Mahirap, Bgy. 12, were still undergoing treatment as of press time.
Witnesses said the suspect was standing on the terrace at the 2nd floor of his house and armed with a 12-gauge shotgun when he started shooting the victims. He opened fire at Orbes who were then sitting in front of their house killing them instantly.
He later turned his gun on the other victims who were also in the same area and fired at them without any warning.
The responding officers also seized from the suspect’s possession one Glock 17 9mm semi-automatic pistol, one Amadeo Rossi cal. .38 revolver, one Black Akkar 12-gauge shotgun, 23 rounds of 9mm ammunition, six .38 bullets, eight shotgun ammunition, a Glock magazine and a Swiss knife.
The suspect’s cousin Barangay Chairman Jerome Soriano said the suspect was suffering from depression after his parents died and his two siblings decided to settle abroad.
