AABOT sa 22,474 foreign at domestic vessels ang namataan ng lahat ng monitoring detachments ng Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) sa dagat sakop ng Pilipinas mula first quarter ng 2023 hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

Sinabi ni Acting public affairs office chief Maj. Al Anthony Pueblas na namataan ang mga barko sa Bani, Zambales; Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte; at Batan at Mavulis sa Batanes.

Sa pamumuno ni Lt. Gen. Fernyl Buca at ng Area Task Force-North, isang inter-agency coordinating body sa ilalim ng National Task Force –West Philippine Sea, nakapagsagawa ang Nolcom ng 60 air patrols at 30 surface patrols mula Enero hanggang sa kasalukuyan.

Kaugnay nito, tiniyak ng Nolcom na patuloy ang maritime patrol sa Bajo De Masinloc o scarborough shoal sa West Philippine Sea, Philippine Benham rise at Batanes para mapangalagaan ang kapakanan ng mga Pinoy na mangingisda sa lugar.

“Nolcom will continue to launch maritime patrols in collaboration with key government agencies such as the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to ensure the safety of our fellow Filipinos, especially our fishermen, and protect our marine resources for the benefit of current and future generations,” sabi ni Buca.
