2 students killed in MSU-Marawi campus
TWO college students on Tuesday night were shot dead inside the Mindanao State University campus in Marawi City.
Marawi City police chief Lt. Col. Nelson Madiwo identified the victims as Hamza Rauf, a physical education student; and Zinal Omar, a civil engineering student.
Rauf and Omar were both third year college students at MSU.
Witnesses said the gunman casually approached the victims at a pathway near the graduate school building of the state-run university and repeatedly shot Rauf and Omar before fleeing on a motorcycle driven by a cohort at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Both victims died on the spot.
Four empty shells from a cal. 40 pistol were found at the crime scene.
MSU student publication The Mindanao Varsitarian condemned the murder of Rauf and Omar and demanded justice for the two.
Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region director Brig. Gen. Eden Ugale directed the Marawi City police to immediately identify and arrest the killers of the two students.
Marawi City is the capital of Lanao del Sur, a component-province of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
