2 men nabbed extorting P11 million from PAL
TWO sneaky individuals have been nabbed by the National Bureau of Investigation-Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-AOTCD) for trying to extort P11 million from Philippine Airlines (PAL).
Benjamin Sebastian and Juan Natividad Tan, who posed as Bureau of Customs (BOC) personnel, were caught in the act of trying to extort P11 million from PAL in exchange for the release of Jet A-1 fuel.
With the tip-off from the airline company, the NBI-AOTCD sprang into action and executed an entrapment operation to apprehend the suspects.
The suspects were charged with robbery/extortion and estafa before the Office of the Prosecutor in Manila while Tan was also charged with usurpation of authority.
A verification by the NBI has revealed that Tan was never even an employee of BOC.
