AUTHORITIES arrested two college students allegedly involved in a series of robbery, theft and carnapping in an anti-criminality operation Thursday afternoon in Taguig City.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/BGen. Jimili Macaraeg identified the arrested suspects as Alexis Angelo Patricio, 25, second year college student, and Ishmael John Ishimatu, 24, first year college, both residing in Bgy. New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.

Taguig police chief P/Col. Celso Rodriguez said elements of Taguig Sub-Station 9 led by P/Maj. Crisanto Agualin were conducting “Oplan Sita” in connection with the continued Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation at around 1:30 p.m. when they spotted the two acting suspiciously in front of R.P. Cruz Elementary School along MLQ St. New Lower Bicutan.

When policemen approached the two, they noticed a butt of a gun protruding at the side waist of Patricio which prompted them to conduct body search.

A caliber .45 Armscor pistol with magazine loaded with two live ammunition was recovered from Patricio while a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu weighing more or less 1.39 grams with standard drug price of P9,452 was found in the possession of Ishimatu.

Macaraeg said Patricio will be charged for violating Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, while violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against Ishimatu before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.

“Asahan na natin na sa ganitong panahon ay maraming naglipanang masasamang loob, kung kaya’t pinapaalalahan ko ang ating mga kapulisan na mas higpitan pa ang pagbabantay sa ating komunidad upang itong mga masasamang loob ay hindi magtagumpay sa kanilang masamang mga balak,” Macaraeg said.
