10 Quezon mayors rally behind UniTeam
TEN incumbent mayors from Quezon province on Thursday have declared their full support for the candidacies of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and his running-mate Inday Sara Duterte along with the UniTeam ticket in the coming May 9 elections.
In pledging their support, the local chief executives who personally visited the BBM Headquarters on EDSA, Mandaluyong City were convinced that among all those running for the two top posts, the BBM-Sara tandem is the most qualified to bring genuine progress in their province and the entire country.
They all vowed to campaign hard for the UniTeam to ensure their victory in the province.
Quezon has more than a million registered voters and the mayors said they expect more mayors from the province who will openly declare their support for the UniTeam in the coming days.
The province is composed of 39 towns, including Tayabas which is a component city and Lucena which is classified as a highly-urbanized city.
Those who declared their unequivocal support for Bongbong and Sara were Lucban Mayor Oliver Dator, Guinayangan Mayor Cesar Isaac, Jomalig Mayor Rodel Espiritu and Padre Burgos Mayor Ben Uy Diokno.
They were joined by Patnanungan Mayor Roderick Larita, Plaridel Mayor Bernard Tumagay, Burdeos Mayor Freddie Aman, Calauag Mayor Rosalina Visorde, San Francisco Mayor Elvira Alegra and Quezon Mayor Cherry Placio.
Mayor Isaac said they expect more local chief executives to declare their support for the tandem even as they were just complying with some requirements before formally joining their group.
“Marami kami at madaragdagan pa sa mga susunod na araw,” he said.
Isaac admitted that Quezon is considered a bailiwick of rival Leni Robredo because it is close to Camarines Sur but that does not mean that she is assured of a total victory in the province.
Isaac belittled Leni’s ability to win in Quezon noting that she never extended any help for them especially during the times of need and calamities.
Lalo kapag may disaster. Lagi niya po kami naaalala.” said Mayor Dator.
Dator said he has long supported Marcos’ candidacy.
In fact, even in the 2016 national elections, BBM was the candidate they supported for vice president.
He also promised that they will campaign hard in the entire province to ensure BBM-Sara tandem’s victory in the province.
He added that he was impressed most by Marcos’ humility.
“Makakapagbigay siya ng halimbawa sa kanyang administration. He will choose among the best na kahit saan ka affiliated ay mahalaga magtulungan tayo para sa ikagaganda ng serbisyo sa taumbayan,” stressed Dator.
