Words, music and harmony make Sweetnotes
AS a popular 70’s ditty brilliantly puts it, “Words and music make a song for our hearts to sing along.”
It’s undoubtedly straightforward, yet its simplicity and plainness evoke a powerful emotional response.
Add in the harmonies and it makes everything even better. Harmony, like all else in the world, is the glue that holds everything together. The spark, if you will, that would allow all to coexist peacefully in love and in fruitful collaboration.
Musically, Sweetnotes is just that. They have that powerful blend of emotions and grit that can calm the weary heart and touch the harshest soul.
Theirs is a musical stopover that speaks deeply to the human sensibility and psyche, as reflected in their affectionate relationship as a duo and real-life couple.
Sweetnotes, which features couple Jeffrey S. Bactong Jr. and Charlotte Mae P. Bactong, has been making sweet music for quite some time now.
They started out in a band called SoundWorks, but soon gravitated towards a more intimate collaboration that turned romantic in the long run, culminating in their marriage in March 2017.
Jeffrey and Charlotte, now a performing couple, decided to work as entertainers in a hotel in China to hone their craft more and elevate their musical skills further.
They then returned to the Philippines in 2019, but the pandemic prevented them from returning to China again.
As the pandemic restrictions died down and people started to explore the outside world again, Jeffrey and Charlotte began to perform anew, doing live streams during their sets.
Of course, in every success story, someone must witness their performances live or in a video. Their video live stream from Fish Caught KTV Bar was the viral catalyst.
Their renditions of Parting Time, Iniibig Kita and Minamahal Kita immediately gained them recognition, particularly among OFWs who found their music comforting as the effects of the lockdowns weighed heavily on them.
From there, their repertoire also began to expand and spread. With this success, the duo received numerous invites, mostly gigs, performances and shows across the Philippines.
Surely, their passion as a loving couple rubbed onto their performances and harmonies, taking their dedicated fan base along with them on an enchanting ride.
Talk about being a multimedia couple, Jeffrey and Charlotte do embody the title, too. Presently, the duo’s Facebook followers number to 3.6 million, while their YouTube account has 1.15 million subscribers. Not measly numbers definitely..
Moreover, Sweetnotes is no stranger to critics. Particularly when they’re compared to MYMP. Indeed, they welcome and fully accept such comparisons. What’s important is that they lay no claim of ownership to any revivals they perform onstage.
Consider them to be troubadours of zeitgeists past, eager to introduce beloved old songs to new generations. But for their millions of fans they adore and love, a surprise is in store for them in the form of original songs that they would likely release soon. Timing is crucial.
For the meantime, Sweetnotes will be having scheduled live performances on different US States this October until December of 2024, all possible through Edren Entertainment LLC led by executive producer, Edgardo Vera Tividad.
The US tour stops are scheduled October 18, Chicago, October 19, Indiana, October 26, San Francisco, November 1, New York, November 2, Arizona, November 3, Los Angeles, November 9, Florida, November 10, Las Vegas, November 15, Seattle, November 16, San Diego, November 23, Colorado, December 6, Washington DC, December 13, Hawaii, December 14, Maui.
