What is surprising about Arthur Nery
SINGING idol Arthur Nery has got the looks and the voice which make the fans swoon. Coming from a musical family, surprisingly he never considered singing a serious career. “Hobby lang,” he says.
Education-wise, he majored in Psychology at the Ateneo de Cagayan. Prodded by friends, he played in small gigs doing mostly covers. Little did he know that one day he would be a contract artist under OC label which Callalily frontman Kean Cipriano launched under Viva Music. His debut album, “Letters Never Sent” produced certified cuts like “Life Puzzle,” “Binhi” and “Take All the Love,” to name a few.
A best seller is “Pagsamo,” with 70 million views on Youtube. Expect to do even better is the song “Isa Lang” with over 12 million views, the highest ranking local recording in the top 50 chart of Spotify Philippines.
On the planning stage is Arthur’s recording his first cover version of a classic Filipino pop song. Another dream is to record a song in the Visayan dialect soon.
No need for subdued title
VIVAMAX brings lots of laughs and loads of sexy time in its new series, “High (School) on Sex”, pronounced as High on Sex, premiering on June 5, 2022. Directed by GB Sampedro, it stars Wilbert Ross, Denise Esteban, Mig Almendras, Angela Morena, Kat Dovey, Rob Guinto, Marco Gomez, Micaella Raz, Andrea Garcia, Juami Gutierrez, Katya Santos, Sheree Bautista,and Mark Carpio. It revolves on the sex experiences of five high school students and the lesson they learned.
The creatives behind “High (School) on Sex” could have chosen a more subdued title, but director Sampedro points out, “Ibang panahon na tayo ngayon eh. So, dapat pinag-uusapan nga natin iyan para aware ang mga kabataan sa kung ano ang mae-experience nila sa buhay nila. Pero siyempre kailangan may mga iko-consider din tayo sa paggawa ng ganitong series.”
He also said that they interviewed students for this series, so it is based on reality.
