THE Philippines’ growth can be sustained through closer cooperation between the national and local governments, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said.

During the proclamation rally of Team Marcos in Laoag City on Friday night, Marcos acknowledged that his administration needs the help of the local government units (LGUs), which know better the needs of their constituents.

He said the government’s role is limited to implementing programs and strategies to bring progress to local communities and as such, the LGU’s role is crucial in attaining his administration’s agenda for prosperity.

“Kung hindi po maganda ang ugnayan ng national government at local government, napakahirap po,” he said. “‘Yung ibang ahensya namin, hanggang region lamang.

‘Yung ibang ahensya ng national government, ‘yung iba hanggang probinsya lamang. Kaya kailangan na kailangan pa rin namin ang tulong ng ating mga local government.”

The President pledged that the government would continue implementing programs aimed at improving the priority areas, including agriculture and the healthcare system.

The national government, he said, would ensure that progress would be felt in every region, including the Ilocos Region, by creating more job and investment opportunities.

“Syempre, hangga’t maaari ay dadalhin namin lahat iyan dito sa Ilocos Norte para magkaroon tayo ng trabaho, para magkaroon tayo ang mas magandang kita, para mas maganda ang Laoag, para mas maganda ang Ilocos Norte,” Marcos said.

There would be smooth coordination between the national government and the LGUs if the administration-backed candidates win the midterm elections, he said, calling on the public to vote for the Team Marcos slate, including his son, Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos who is seeking reelection.

“Ganoon kalapit ang aming pagsasama. Ganoon kalapit ang aming pag-uugnay para pagandahin ang Ilocos Norte. Kaya po dagdag sa pagpili sa pinaka magagaling, sa pinaka mahusay, sa pinaka sanay at pinaka magandang performance sa serbisyo publiko,” Marcos said.

“Bukod pa roon po ay hindi lamang sila ang magiging kakampi ninyo. Ang magiging kakampi natin ay ang buong national government na pinangungunahan ng inyong Pangulo.” Philippine News Agency
