SIXTEEN months before next year’s national and local polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced Thursday the implementation of its “Register Anywhere Program (RAP).”

The electorate goes to the polls anew on May 12, 2025 to elect 12 new senators, more than 300 district and party-list representatives, and thousands of local government officials.

These local executives are governors, vice governors, provincial board members, city/municipal mayors, vice mayors and councilors .

Successfully piilot-tested in selected key towns and cities in Luzon, the Visayas and Bicol in 2022, the RAP starts on February 12, when the Comelec resumes registering voters.

The program is part of Comelec efforts to help the country’s workers and students, who have limited time and opportunity to register.

Under the scheme, voter registration sites will be set up in shopping malls, universities and colleges, and government offices and agences.

A qualified voter will be allowed to file his/her application with any Comelec-designated RAP registration area regardless of his/her place of residence.

RAP registration centers are open from February 12 to September 30, 2024, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday, including holidays.

However, the poll body was quick to emphasize that company-issued identification cards are not valid ID document.

Mga government-issued ID card lang ang tatanggapin sa mga registration center.

DAPAT LANG!
