Vendor cheats death after being shot by dental technician
GAPAN CITY – A 38-year-old vendor cheated death when a dental technician peppered him with bullets upon arriving home here on Wednesday.
Police identified the wounded victim as Artemio Jamito, of Sitio Riles, Barangay Sto. Niño, this city.
The victim’s common-law wife, Judy Caperlac, who witnessed the shooting, said her husband had just arrived at their house when the suspect, apparently their neighbor, tailed her husband and shot him several times, hitting his left leg before escaping on foot.
The victim was initially rushed to the Good Samaritan Hospital for emergency treatment and later transferred to the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City.
Probers are looking at an old “grudge” as a possible motive for the shooting.
Police said they are readying frustrated murder charges for filing before the city prosecutor’s office against the suspect, who remains at large.
