VALENZUELA City started its early Christmas for the elderly, dubbed as “Pasko sa Hulyo Para Kay Lolo at Lola,” Friday afternoon by distributing 5 kilos of rice to around 65,000 senior citizens.
A total of 11,854 senior citizens from 16 barangays received their early Christmas packs on its first day of its five-day distribution.
Those who received the packs were from barangays of Wawang Pulo, Balangkas, Poblacion, Pulo, Pariancillo Villa, Palasan, Isla, Bisig, Mabolo, Tagalog, Arkong Bato, Coloong, Pasolo, Rincon and Malinta.
Each recipient received 5 kilograms of rice.
Mayor WES Gatchalian said that now that it has approached its 6th year, Pasko sa Hulyo continues its commitment to providing senior citizens with additional assistance to their basic necessities such as food.
Weeks prior to the launching, the Pasko sa Hulyo program engaged in a door-to-door delivery system for the distribution of vouchers to every household with eligible senior citizens.
The qualified beneficiaries are senior citizens registered with the Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) on or before May 15, 2023 and residents in Valenzuela City.
Mayor Wes, alongside city officials, warmly welcomed the senior citizens and led the distribution of gift packs.
“Nakipag-partner po tayo sa kooperatiba ng mga magsasaka ng Isabela. Kaya po hindi lamang po ito nakakatulong para sa ating pamilya; nakakatulong rin tayo sa libu-libong magsasaka doon sa Isabela,” said Mayor Wes.
