Trike driver, daughter shot dead in Lucena
LUCENA CITY – A tricycle driver and his 12-year-old daughter died after they were peppered with bullets by a lone gunman at Purok Central, Barangay Mayao Castillo, this city before dawn on Monday, May 8.
Lucena City police chief Lt. Col. Erickson Roranes said the tricycle driver, 43, suffered several gunshot wounds while her daughter, 12, sustained a single stray bullet in the body.
Roranes said the incident happened at around 5:00 a.m. while the father was driving his tricycle with her 12-year-old daughter, including her elder daughter, on their way to school.
Based on the initial investigation, a lone gunman suddenly blocked their path and opened fire several times, hitting the victims.
The elder daughter, however, managed to run away and sought assistance from the residents.
The suspect quickly fled on a motorcycle toward the adjacent town of Pagbilao.
Probers are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.
