Tricycle driver gets lead role in Vivamax movie
DUSKY sexy actor Chad Solano was only 16 when he was first spotted by the late director Maryo J. de los Reyes, who was a judge in the Bikini Open which Chad joined at that time.
“Mga 16 years old pa lang ako noon,” Chad recalled. “Isinama ako ni Direk Maryo sa Bamboo Flowers (2013). Isinama din ako ni Direk Maryo sa Masculados. Isinama ako ng Masculados sa mga gigs nila.”
After Direk Maryo passed away in 2018, Chad’s showbiz career came to a halt. He was only spotted anew by talent manager Jojo Veloso who discovered him on TikTok.
“Matagal din po akong niligawan ni Tito Jojo, mga six to eight months, bago napapayag akong bumalik sa showbiz,” recalled Chad, who was born and raised in Pangasinan.
“Na-convince ako ni Tito Jojo nang nakita ko ang mga alaga niya. Sina AJ Raval, Angeli Khang, na pinadala ang mga pictures sa akin.”
Chad got a chance to work with Angeli Khang in Direk Mac Alejandre’s ‘Ganti-Ganti’ (2023).
“Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin artista ang tingin ko sa sarili ko,” said Chad. “Trabaho lang lahat ito.”
The youngest in a brood of four children, Chad helps his family who lives in Urdaneta, Pangasinan where he goes home to occasionally.
Chad feels truly blessed to be given a second chance in showbiz. “Na-overwhelm din ako at masaya,” he said. “Nailalabas ko din ang talent ko sa pag-aartista. Nabigyan ako ng second chance.
“Natulong din ako sa pamilya ko. Nakabili ako ng mga appliances namin tulad ng air fryer, burner, microwave at mga kailangan ko sa gym para sa mga health conscious na tulad ko. Bumili rin ako ng tricycle na ipinapa-pasada ko.”
Chad plays a lead role as a gardener in ‘Dilig,’ directed by Christian Paolo Lat and showing on Vivamax on January 30.
“Mahirap ang role ko at may sakit ang nanay ko kaya nagawa kong pumasok sa gano’ng trabaho,” shared Chad.
“Magaling akong mag-alaga ng mga halaman. Hindi ko ine-expect na bigla akong mapapa-ibig sa dalawang amo ko.”
Rica Gonzales plays the better half of the rich boss essayed by Archie Adamos, with Dyessa Garcia as the daughter. JD Aguas is the rich suitor of Dyessa.
