On April Fool’s day, Trabaho partylist cautioned the public against the latest job scams where unsuspecting victims were tricked into believing they were hired to do high-paying yet easy work-from-home tasks, which require them to “top up” or to deposit money to cover initial expenses.

The group took note of increasing incidents of job seekers falling prey to similarly-patterned scams because they do not have access to reliable and consolidated information source for job opportunities.

“With Trabaho’s weekly job fair alert, we get to provide information about legitimate job fairs, saving our vulnerable job seekers from getting scammed,” said Trabaho spokesperson Atty. Mitchell Espiritu, while noting the importance of educating the public on how to spot fraudulent job advertisements and recruitment schemes.

As a countermeasure, the labor group consolidates local job fairs on a weekly basis, and posts the job fair alert through its official page 106 Trabaho.

The job fair alert is usually posted on a Monday providing details such as the date, time, and location of the job fair.

According to Espiritu, the weekly Job Fair Alert is just a sneak peek for a centralized job vacancy database- the long-term solution that the partylist is aiming to legislate to improve employment rate, and to ease the process of seeking job opportunities.

“The centralized job vacancy database will serve as a platform where Filipinos can look for job opportunities at the touch of the fingertip, without having to travel far or to spend for airfares and lodging, especially for those residing in the provinces,” he added.
