PHILIPPINE National Police Drug Enforcement Group director Col. Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. on Thursday announced the arrest of a top drug target in Eastern Visayas during an anti-narcotics operation in Ormoc City.

The official said that suspect Juvan Mahinay, a 24-year-old “high-value individual,” and his companion Marvin Tugonon, 38, were arrested after they conspired to sell shabu to an undercover officer in Bgy. Macabug past 2 p.m. last December 29.

Members of the PDEG Special Operations Unit 8, with the help of officers from Police Regional Office 8 and the Ormoc City Police Office, conducted the sting, which resulted in the confiscation of six heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shau and the buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

The suspect and his alleged cohort are facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Mahinay and Tugonon are being held at the Ormoc City Police Station 6, said Col. Bartolome.
