SA pagtutulungan nina House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, TINGOG Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez, at Jude Acidre, at ng Roche at Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) ay nailunsad noong Hunyo 29 ang kauna-unahang automated at state-of-the-art na HPV-DNA Screening platform para sa cervical cancer.

Ang naturang pagpapasinaya ay dinaluhan nina Rep. Acidre, EVMC Department of Pathology chairperson Dr. Cleocita A. Portula, EVMC Medical Center Chief Dr. Joseph Micahel A. Jaro, Department of Health (DOH) Eastern Visayas Regional Director Dr. Exuperia Sabalberino, at OB-GYN Department Chair Dr. Rufina Lynor Barrot-Gler.

Patuloy ang pagtutulungan ng EVMC at Roche upang makamit ang mga target sa ilalim ng 2030 World Health Organization gaya ng pagpuksa sa cervical cancer sa pamamagitan ng HPV vaccination sa 90 porsyento ng kababaihan bago lumagpas sa edad na 15 at sumailalim sa high performance test ang 70 porsyento ng mga kababaihan na edad 35 at 45-anyos, at ang pagsasagawa ng precancerous lesions sa 90 porsyento ng kababaihan na mayroon cervical disease.

Tumulong ang Roche sa paglalagay ng cobast 500 system at mga accessories sa EVMC.

Ang cervical cancer ang ikatlong pangunahing uri ng kanser sa mga kababaihan kung saan 12 ang namamatay araw-araw. Ito ay sanhi ng Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) na napapasa sa pamamagitan ng pakikipagtalik.
