Teacher killed by brother-in-law over land row

A 36-YEAR-OLD teacher on Sunday was shot dead by his brother-in-law over a land dispute in Bulacan.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Malolos police identified the victim as Mark Anthony Benedict, a resident of 1069 Tawiran St., Bgy. Panasahan, Malolos City, Bulacan.

The suspect was James Emerson Fernando, 30.

Prior to the shooting, Benedict and Fernando, who have an old grudge over their land property, accidentally met and had a heated argument.

At the height of the quarrel, the suspect suddenly pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

Witnesses rushed Benedict to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival by an attending physician.

The suspect fled after the killing.

The Malolos police immediately flashed alarm to arrest Fernando.
