GOODBYE, Barangay Ginebra.

San Miguel Beer, the winningest team in the league, made sure to return to the finals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

And the Beermen did it by sweeping no less than defending champion Barangay Ginebra.

Led by import Bennie Boatwright and seven-time PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo, the Beermen defeated the Kings, 94-91, to complete a sweep of their scheduled best-of-five semifinal series at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Boatwright finished with 26 points and 13 rebounds in 45 minutes, while Fajardo added his own double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and three blocks in 41 minutes for the Beermen, who also won over the Kings, 92-90 and 106-96 earlier in the series.

Jericho Cruz also made his presence felt on off-the-bench role with 17 points, highlighted by two triples.

Marcio Lassiter added 14 points, and CJ Perez chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds for the George Gallent-mentored Beermen.

Tony Bishop and former PBA MVP Scottie Thompson carried the fight for Ginebra with 25 and 17 points, respectively.

It was sweet revenge for San Miguel, which lost to Ginebra, 3-0, in theirp semifinals showdown in the last PBA Governors Cup.

With the win, San Miguel earned the right to advance to the finals against the winner of the other smeifinal showdown between top seed Magnolia Chicken Timplados and Phoenix Super LPG.
