Suspected gun-for-hire nabbed, 4 guns seized in Pampanga
A SUSPECTED gun-for-hire was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in an anti-crime raid in Porac, Pampanga last week which also led to the confiscation of four illegal firearms, PNP-CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III said yesterday.
“This is in line with our effort to account for more illegal guns and private armed groups and gun-for-hire syndicates as ordered by PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil ahead of the May 12 National and Local Elections,” the official said.
According to the PNP-CIDG director, members of the CIDG Aurora, Pampanga and Angeles City Field Units, with the assistance of officers from the local police and the PNP Special Action Force, raided the suspect’s residence in Bgy. Camias in Porac municipality on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by a local court.
The operation led to the arrest of the suspect identified only as alias “Tatag” and the confiscation of an unlicensed Carbine rifle, a Garand rifle, a caliber .45 pistol and another handgun, as well as several magazines and assorted live ammunition.
The suspect has been charged for violation of RA 10591 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code, Torre said.
