Summer diseases
WITH the advent of summer in the Philippines, the people would do well to heed the appeal of concerned government authorities.
And health authorities reminded the public that a number of diseases are prevalent during the hot summer months.
They include heatstroke, dehydration, sore eyes (conjunctivities, diarrhea, heat exhaustion, dengue, skin conditions, flu, and asthma.
And these illnesses can be exacerbated by the heat and food/water consumption, according to experts.
Thus, we doff our hat to the government for calling on the people, particularly the children, elderly and the sick, to always seek the help of health authorities.
“Nandiyan naman ang ating mga barangay health workers (BHWs) na highly-trained para tugunan ang health needs ng mga residente,” a village official said.
And what is needed is for the government to ensure that barangay and municipal health centers are in a position to help distressed individuals,
“Ang ibig sabihin nito ay may sapat na libreng gamot at medical supplies ang maibibigay ng mga health center na ito sa taumbayan,” a resident said.
And in meeting the health and other needs of the people, local government and village officials should set aside politics.
Dapat lang!
