PLAYING with nothing left but pride, already-eliminated San Sebastian extinguished the Final Four hopes of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta with an 83-72 reversal yesterday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Stags fell to the Altas 52-60 in their first-round encounter, but they exacted their revenge in the second round to chalk up their fifth win in 11 games.

Perpetual has now lost five of its last six second-round games, bowing out of the Final Four contention for a third straight season with a 6-11 record.

Tristan Felebrico delivered a standout performance for San Sebastian, posting a game-high 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Reggz Gabat and Raymart Escobido added 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Paeng Are chipped in 12 points for the Stags.

Later, Harvey Pagsanjan had 17 points, eight boards and three assists as Emilio Aguinaldo College moved in a tie with Lyceum of the Philippines University at 8-8 with a 69-59 win over Arellano University.

The Generals, who are eyeing their first-ever Final Four appearance since joining the league in 2009, held the Chiefs to nine points in the payoff period to regain their winning ways.

Coach Arvin Bonleon expressed pride in his team’s performance, even though San Sebastian is already out of Final Four running.

“Sinabi ko lang sa kanila mag-enjoy tayo ng last three games natin,” said Bonleon.

The Stags hope to give seniors Escobido and Reggz Gabat a fitting send-off by ending their collegiate careers strong.

Christian Pagaran led the Altas with 16 points off the bench, while Mark Gojo Cruz and Henry Montemayor contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively.
