
St. Benilde, Lyceum in V-League rematch
COLLEGE of Saint Benilde takes on Lyceum of the Philippines University today in a NCAA women’s championship rematch in the V-League Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena.
The Lady Blazers, winners of the last two NCAA seasons, and the Lady Pirates take the floor at p.m.
Four months ago, Benilde swept LPU in the Finals to extend its remarkable NCAA winning streak to 29 matches.
Gayle Pascual, the NCAA Season 98 Finals MVP, will spearhead the Lady Blazers’ bid along with Jade Gentapa, Michelle Gamit, Wielyn Estoque, Zam Nolasco and Cloanne Mondoñedo. They suited up for Farm Fresh in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
However, the Lady Pirates are not to be underestimated in this tournament, as reigning two-time NCAA Best Setter, Venice Puzon, will also bring experience from her time with PLDT.
Johna Dolorito, Joan Doguna and Jaja Tulang will be LPU’s main weapons.
In the other women’s match, Mary Rhose Dapol-led University of Perpetual Help System Dalta will face San Sebastian at 4 p.m.
Dapol, who suited up for PVL club Foton, and Shai Omipon will be the Lady Altas’ 1-2 punch, while Jhasmine Sapin will be the lead playmaker,
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas and La Salle clash in the men’s division at 10 a.m. to open the quadruple-header.
Leading the Golden Spikers is none other than the UAAP Season 85 Rookie-MVP Josh Ybañez, while Noel Kampton will banner the Green Spikers.
In another NCAA Finals rematch, Perpetual and San Beda collide at 12 noon.
