MartinTWO programs by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez were brought to Leyte recently to give P5,000 worth of financial assistance and rice to a total of 8,000 beneficiaries.

Speaker Romualdez, the representative of Leyte, led the distribution of aid from the Cash and Rice Distribution (CARD) Program and Integrated Scholarship and Incentives for the Youth (ISIP for the Youth) Program in separate events in Leyte.

The distribution of aid from the CARD and ISIP Program is usually coincided with the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) where millions of aid are distributed.

Saang sulok man kayo ng Pilipinas, aabutin namin kayo,” he added.

For the CARD program, a total of 5,000 qualified beneficiaries from Leyte received financial aid of P5,000 each through the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) Program.

They also received P20 kilos of rice each in a simple ceremony that was held at the Tacloban Astrodome in Tacloban City.

CARD is a revolutionary program initiated by Speaker Romualdez to help vulnerable sectors such as poor senior citizens, PWD, single parents, indigenous peoples and others.

The ISIP for the Youth Program is also an initiative of Speaker Romualdez to help deserving college, technical and vocational level students with their study expenses.

A total of 3,000 qualified beneficiaries in Leyte received P5,000 cash aid each from the DSWD’s AICS and five kilos of rice at the event held at Alba Hall of Leyte Normal University.

There are also selected students who will be admitted to the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). These students will each receive P15,000 in aid per semester.

They will also be given priority in the Government Internship Program (GIP) so that they can immediately enter work when they have finished their studies. If their parents or guardians are unemployed, they will be admitted to the DOLE-TUPAD Program.
